Christmas stamped cookies: a cookie cutter STL guide

Use a matching cookie cutter and stamp to create Christmas cookies with a clear design. This guide covers printing your tools, stamping dough and decorating with fondant. Danis Drip’s international shop supplies digital STL files for your own 3D printer; no physical tools are shipped.

Start with your STL files

  1. Choose a design from our Christmas cookie cutter and stamp STL files. Read the product’s file list: a cutter-only download and a cutter-and-stamp set have different contents.
  2. Download your files using the delivery instructions for that product. Standard downloads and made-to-order custom designs have different delivery times.
  3. Import the STL files into your slicer. Check the dimensions and orientation before slicing. Keep a matching cutter and stamp at the same scale; scaling one file alone can stop the pair fitting together.
  4. Use settings suitable for your printer, material and the model. There is no single temperature, layer height or support setting that suits every printer and design. Inspect the finished print for incomplete features, sharp edges, cracks or loose parts before use.

For a simple first project, explore our free STL downloads. You still need your own printer or a printing service. Finished-cookie photos show design examples; they are not items included with an STL purchase.

What you need for stamping cookies

  • A cutter and matching stamp, prepared for the intended use
  • A low-spread shortbread or gingerbread dough, or fondant
  • A rolling pin, ideally with thickness guides
  • A little flour or cornstarch
  • Baking parchment

Choose a dough that holds the impression

A dough that spreads or rises strongly can blur a stamped design. Shortbread without baking powder is a useful starting point. Chill the dough before rolling; the original recipe and its baking instructions still determine the result.

Stamping dough step by step

  1. Roll: Start at around 5 mm thickness and keep it even. Adjust to your recipe and design.
  2. Cut: Lightly dust the cutter with flour, press straight down and lift it out.
  3. Stamp: Lightly dust the stamp with cornstarch. Align it with the cut shape and press evenly without rocking it.
  4. Chill: Chill the shaped cookies on the tray for 10–15 minutes before baking to help preserve the impression.
  5. Bake: Follow your dough recipe’s temperature and timing. Let the cookies cool before decorating.

Stamping fondant for Christmas cookies

Roll the fondant evenly, stamp the design, then cut it with the matching cutter. Attach the fondant to a baked, cooled cookie with a little water or suitable edible adhesive. Try the impression on a small piece first to find the pressure and thickness that suit your design.

Troubleshooting

  • The impression blurs: Check how much the dough spreads or rises, and chill it before baking.
  • Dough sticks: Lightly dust the stamp before each impression; avoid packing fine details with excess powder.
  • Edges tear: Check whether the dough is too dry or rolled too thinly.
  • The printed pair does not fit: Compare the cutter and stamp scale in your slicer and inspect both prints. Do not assume resizing or a printer setting leaves the fit unchanged.

Care depends on your printed tool

The STL file does not determine the material, print quality or suitability of your finished tool. Follow the care and intended-use guidance for the material and printing process you choose. Our printed-tool care guidance recommends gentle hand washing with lukewarm water; do not put tools in an oven or microwave. An STL download is not a certification of a finished print.
